I have just read Annie Angel's page about Angel Radio, and as I am a presenter on there, I would like to add my own page about the show I present on Thursday evenings at 8:00 called Yesterday's Review. It consists of a featured year each week where I play songs from that year as well as look at any interesting items of news or events that happened then. These are years up to 1959, which is as far as we go up to as it is aimed at the over 60s. (There is more about the station on Annie Angel's page.) Research is done for this by visiting the library, looking at various websites and the 'looking back ' column in the local newspaper.
I started with Angel Radio IOW last year after being presenter on the Isle of Wight Hospital Radio for 33 years presenting a weekly request show and a nostalgia programme on Saturday evenings. It was 2 years ago when I heared Angel Radio when they had a 2 week tempory licence to broadcast on FM. I then decided to join Angel, and was a guest on Chris & Bev's show on Fridays until I was given my own slot on Thursday evenings, as well as still doing Hospital Radio on Mondays and Saturdays. Angel Radio IOW is currently broadcast on Wight Cable, but has recently received an FM licence. They are just waiting for the transmitter to be installed.
Isle of Wight Hospital Radio is now called 'Sunshine Radio'. It provides programmes to patients in St Mary's Hospital, Newport IW now 12 hours a day, and has just been given a gold award for the best trailer.
